  • Hazard class division

You know there are different classifications and divisions for any explosion proof lighting, the same as explosion proof high bay lighting, hazard class division can be class 1 div 1 and class div 2, class 2 division 1 and class 2 division 2, zone 1 and zone 2, zone 21 and zone 22, you can check the hazardous area classifications chart from other pages.

  • Usage by application

Depends on the application field, explosion proof high bay lighting can be used in crude oil plant, refinery plant, LNG and LPG plant, petrochemical and chemical plant such as paint booth lighting plant, gas station lights plant, anywhere there is combustible gas, vapor, mist and dust.

Flood Light Explosion Proof
  • Usage by mounting places

Explosion proof high bay lighting can be used in high or low ceiling areas, narrow areas, confined space, steel structure areas, wall areas, stanchion areas, guardrail areas and other areas without support frame or plates.

  • Alternative for brand-new model

SUREALL explosion high bay lighting is the alternative lighting solution for eve lighting, eclipse 2, champ up, gl lighting, nevis light, nexled light, vtgg, vm lighting, vmvm and vmv tech solutions.

What Makes A High Bay Light Explosion Proof?

The specially designed explosion proof structure makes a high bay light explosion proof.

SUREALL explosion proof high bay lighting normally have three separate chambers, chamber for led driver, chamber for led lamp and chamber for connection. The chamber for led driver is normally Ex d flame proof housing such as SHB series and SO-I series which can withstand the mechanical pressure from the explosion inside the housing, or Ex e increased safety housing such as SHB-II series and SVM series whose electrical circuit are increased safety treated. The chamber for led lamp is designed with fins to reduce the temperatures for heat excellent dissipation performance. The chamber for connection is Ex d flame proof housing or Ex e increased safety housing with safe terminal blocks. No matter the housing inside explode or not, explosion proof high bay light can stop the explosion transmitted to the outside of housing to ensure the safety.

In a word, since we apply for explosion proof technology to stop the high bay light to become an ignition source to avoid the explosion in the site, then the high bay light could be explosion proof high bay light.

FAQs about Explosion Proof High Bay Lighting

Q

What is flame proof light?

A

Flame proof light is the most important and typical type of explosion proof lighting, we also call Ex d light, which means all electrical parts of the light are put inside a high strength flame proof enclosure, when explosion occurs inside the enclosure, the flame proof enclosure can withstand the exploding pressure without any damage and transmit the exploding energy through designed flame proof path to a negligible scope to outside of the enclosure to eliminate the formation of the explosion outside the enclosure.

Q

Are led lights flammable?

A

Led light is not likely to produce enough hot or high temperature to be flammable when considering the over-current and short-circuit condition since normally led lamp source are designed inside a certain housing to reduce the temperature rise with heat dissipation structure, especially for explosion proof led light, all led electrical parts is explosion proof protected for the utmost safety.

Q

What is the difference between high bay and low bay lighting?

A

High bay lights are normally used for ceiling more than 20 feet, low bay lights are normally used for ceiling lower than 20 feet, anyway, this is a simple way to distinguish high bay and low bay, the exact ceiling height will be depended on the requested and actual lumens on the lighting areas. Moreover, high bay light have a built-in deep reflector to distribute the light down from a high ceiling, low bay light have normal reflector and lens to distribute the light down from a low ceiling.

Q

What is a class 1 light fitting?

A

Class 1 definition come from the hazardous area classifications of NEC500 standard which classifies flammable substances into fours types, “M” for methane under mine, “class 1” for hazardous gas and vapor, “class 2” for hazardous dust and “class 3” for hazardous fiber, thus class 1 light fitting is explosion proof lighting specially used for hazardous locations which hazardous gas and vapor present normally and abnormally, but class 1 light fittings have two types, class 1 div 1 light fitting and class 1 div 2 light fitting. If the hazardous gas and vapor produce normally in the environment, you need to use class 1 div 1 light fitting, if the hazardous gas and vapor produce abnormally in the environment, you need to use class 1 div 2 light fitting.

Q

How heavy can a pendant light be?

A

The weight of pendant light depends on types and wattages, in most case, lower than 10 pounds for commercial pendant light, around 10 to 20 pounds for industrial pendant light, about 20 up to 60 pounds for explosion proof pendant light. As for the wattages, the enclosure will be bigger and heavier size when the wattage is higher for the same type of pendant light.
