The Umm al-Hayman wastewater plant is located at 50 kilometers south of Kuwait City. The plant will treat wastewater with an initial capacity of 500,000 cubic meters of average daily flow.
The Umm Al Hayman (UAH) Wastewater Project (the "Project") consists of the construction of the plant within the boundaries of the current. The Project also includes the construction of sewage and treated water lines from Egailah pumping station to the new station, 300 sewage rising mains and 68 ground reservoirs, together with a major power transformer station.
Resistant to moisture, heat, cold and temperature fluctuations, age resistant to UV irradiation, robust against mechanical stress, explosion-proof in certain environments, generally reliable, long-lasting and efficient – such are the essential criteria from the extensive requirement specification that luminaires for sewage treatment plants must meet. Particularly careful product selection was required for lighting the plateau at the top of a digestion tank because methane gas is extracted from the sewage sludge and the luminaires need to be explosion-proof.
